ThokkThokk combines a striking, minimalist design ethos with a commitment to ecological and fair production. Founded in 2007 by the imaginative VFX Johow, better known as Vinzenz, the brand embarked on a mission to present a sustainable alternative to fast fashion. Vinzenz himself pioneered the first graphic line, imprinting his designs onto textiles via screen printing. From the outset, the essence of ThokkThokk was anchored in organic practices.
Noteworthy aspects:
- Production Centres: Most of ThokkThokk’s creations originate in India, home also to their organic cotton farms. Partnering with GOTS and Fairtrade certified manufacturers in the region, they ardently back local NGO Save, a body advocating for the rights of women and children. Their innovative kapok jackets, which are lightweight and possess natural insulation properties, are crafted in China.
- Printing Prowess: The distinct prints, a defining element since the brand’s inception, are applied to textiles using screen and digital printing techniques. These processes take place both in India and with partner companies in Germany, as well as in-house in Munich.
- Diverse Product Lines: ThokkThokk boasts a varied range. From soft knits and casual jerseys produced near Delhi and Tiruppur, to sustainably-verified jeans from Turkey, and even eco fashion collections from LOVJOI in Germany. They even curate intimate wear, teaming up with expert production houses in Portugal known for fair working standards.
- Eco Packaging: Unique packaging and paper products are produced in Tiruppur, crafted from recycled cotton remnants. This eco-conscious approach not only reduces landfill waste but has also secured the producer’s title as the sole GRS-certified entity in global paper production.
