Editors' note

The Swag’s journey began with a vision to tackle two predominant issues – food wastage and plastic pollution. Their unique, patented bag is crafted from 100% unbleached, unseeded cotton, specifically designed to keep fruits and vegetables fresher for an extended period. The multi-layered bag works by preserving water within its middle layer, ensuring your produce remains hydrated yet breathable.

The Swag’s commitment extends beyond just reducing food wastage. Their manufacturing processes, anchored in India, are supported by a SEDEX-certified, female-owned and led team. This certification ensures responsible sourcing throughout the supply chain, promoting workers’ rights and sustainability. Their organic range is crafted using GOTS certified organic cotton, which stands as a testament to their commitment to ecological and social criteria.

Furthermore, The Swag has taken significant steps to ensure their products are sustainably manufactured:

  • The cotton used is non-toxic, non-allergenic, and most importantly, compostable.
  • Packaging is minimalistic with recyclable and compostable materials.
  • All printing is done using plant-based inks, ensuring no harmful chemicals are involved.

Behind the brand is Peita, The Swag’s founder. Inspired by her own upbringing surrounded by nature in Australia, and driven by her personal experiences with food wastage at home, she developed this innovative solution.

The Swag also has a heart for giving back. A notable percentage of its profits go to Destiny Rescue, a charity focused on rescuing children from trafficking. Since its inception, The Swag has been instrumental in supporting the rescue of thousands of children from human trafficking. On a broader scale, their mission encapsulates empowering people to adopt waste and plastic-free lifestyles, with an impressive record of preventing thousands of kilograms of produce and millions of plastic bags from ending up in landfills.

And as a nod to their future endeavors, The Swag is gearing towards transitioning their entire cotton product range to 100% GOTS certified organic cotton by 2023 and strategizing to reduce their carbon footprint even further.

For a more sustainable lifestyle, The Swag not only brings a tangible solution but embodies a philosophy of conscious living and giving. It’s a brand that is not just about a product, but a movement towards a more sustainable and compassionate world.
