Editors' note

BEDI, established in 2019 by Inder Bedi, brings to the table a unique collection of utilitarian outerwear, bags, and knits designed with sustainability at their core. Nestled in North America’s Mile End district of Montreal, their flagship store and select retailers such as HOLT RENFREW house their impressive range. BEDI stands out for its commitment to cleaning up and preserving the planet, promising that one day, everything new will come from something old.

Their product range includes a variety of materials sourced with intention and care, featuring upcycled seat belts, retired airline seats, salvaged furniture, and ECONYL®. This advanced and sustainable fabric from Italy is made from regenerated fishnets, embodying BEDI’s commitment to the circular economy and sustainable practices. The designs reflect a Japandi approach, ensuring each piece is made to last while contributing positively to the environment.

The founder, Inder Bedi, has dedicated his career to sustainable fashion. He embarked on this journey with a vegan leather accessories company, evolving into a beacon of sustainability in the fashion industry. His commitment to finding alternatives to virgin materials has positioned BEDI as a leader in sustainable offerings worldwide.

The brand’s commitment to sustainability extends to its materials. While BEDI prioritizes upcycled and recycled materials, ensuring minimal environmental footprint, they also maintain high performance standards, occasionally opting for virgin materials when necessary to meet their stringent quality requirements.

In addition to their commitment to environmental sustainability, BEDI places a strong emphasis on social responsibility. From ensuring fair wages and good working conditions to fostering personal relationships with their tailors and production team, BEDI goes beyond typical standards to create a community of craftsmanship and respect.

BEDI’s partnership with suppliers ensures that their high standards for environmental and social sustainability are upheld throughout the design and manufacturing process. By supporting the local community and minimizing their environmental footprint, BEDI demonstrates a steadfast commitment to both people and the planet reflecting the brand’s dedication to sustainable practices and high-quality craftsmanship.
