Reason to start training in 2018: more frequent extreme weather events.

This is not an original thought (the precursor of Parkour as we know it was spurred to work on the discipline after witnessing the consequences of a volcanic eruption). But the recent hurricanes in the Caribbean islands have painfully highlighted how quickly we may have to rely on physical skills to preserve our own life and assist others.

Very sadly, they’re also showing how long it can be until “normal” life returns and how long you might have to go without electricity and all that’s reliant on it. Some homes in Puerto Rico won’t get electricity back until next summer (!). Climate change also means these extreme weather events will be more frequent and more widespread in the future.

Training to be able to face events like this is not only a good source of inspiration and motivation, but a wise precaution.
